in case you were wanting to know what is going on at the refuge this june…we have added the june calendar.
Here is a story from a woman name Crystal:
Let the revolution begin!
I went downtown around 1:30 am last night for the end of the reading of the Word over our city. When I arrived the book of revelation was being read. I joined in and read a few chapters, along with some others, and we finished the Book around 2:30am. We had an amazing time of worshipping the Lord in the parking lot.
We played a song I’m not familiar with, but was a huge heart cry for our city. “greater things are yet to come, greater things are still to be done in this city!” declaring that the LORD was God of our city, and we believe in Him to transform it.
As the worship music began, I had closed my eyes to pray, and unknowingly had turned myself around 180… when I opened my eyes, I saw the night skyline of downtown OKC, and it was the most beautiful I had ever seen it.
I have never loved living in Oklahoma city, merely tolerated it… but last night, the LORD humbled my heart and filled it with great compassion toward a city of HIS people!!
The Lord gave me 2 pictures as I stood in awe of the cityscape:
1) I saw very clearly the crumbling of the murrah building, and dust filled the sky and spread out very far, causing it to be hard to see. (I saw this as if it were in real time, at night and not the images in my mind from the news…)
2) When the dust cleared, the earth shook, and I saw several NEW buildings rise up out of the ashes and stand taller than any of the buildings that were already there. Then ALL of the buildings downtown were like a beacon of light, the light shone Up into the sky , then spread out very far, visible for miles upon miles.
3) The thought came to my mind “THIS IS MY CHURCH” as if the City was the Church, and the Church was the City… because all the people believed, and it was a beacon to the nations.
I was thinking and praying through this this morning, and I believe that the first image was the past of OKC… destruction and purging. The second was the future of OKC… what the LORD is doing through His Church in the city.
I was thinking about how long it had been since the actual OKC bombing, since I had seen it so vividly representing the past of OKC… it has been 13 years.
13 is the year of REVOLUTION!!! … (14 is the year of re-creation!)
I believe the LORD is preparing our city to be re-created for His Glory(that process has already begun, just LOOK at what is happening even physically down town! – new buildings, new homes, new everything! As well as the light that is overthrowing the darkness in parts of our city… take a walk down California Avenue and you’ll see).
I am constantly honored and humbled to be playing a part in God’s Kingdom.
His mercies are everlasting!
I am amazed. (It blows my mind!)
we have finished the Genesis to Revolution. We started at 6:01pm Sunday and completed the task Thursday morning at 2:30am. Following the reading, a song was played by Chris Tomlin called “God of This City”. It is a song that was played over the city while many worshipped in the field.
I must say, it was just so fun to be apart and to know that whether i was sleeping, driving, eating, that the Word of God was being read over this city. It was awesome to hear how so many people got to participate and all the wonderful stories that came of it.
I am going to be posting different stories that i hear or via email that come from this last week.
a city is under siege…and the warriors are mounting.
i know most of my terms sound very strange…often my language is in warrior/military terms. Part of the reason is because we are seeing this battle that we are in and the actually how the same terms apply. Things like warriors, generals, sergeants, 101st Airborne. So, if it sounds crazy, it sort of is, but it helps us describe to ourselves what is happening in this battle.
1. The inner city is looking like a staging area. The Refuge is playing a role of helping assist taking over the inner city. The Refuge future is going to be an inner city training. We are going to be filling the building up in the first phase with warriors (those who are pioneering on the front lines). We see that now we have taken the center of the city, we are looking now beyond The Refuge. It feels like once we took over the large crack house in downtown OKC, it opened the door for the warriors to fill the streets. It feels like with a block party that we had in October 2007, it opened the door for the 101st Airborne to come in with a 1000 or so people throughout those two month before the Block Party.
2. Other parts of the city. The reason why we want to go into other parts of the city is to “attack” other parts much like what we did with the refuge. Go in there, change the area physically and spiritually, and live our lives as the light. This is what we are calling “the offense” or “going on the offense”. The main reason is because we are trying to fight the temptation of comfort, and running towards the edge and take ground. The other regions that we are seeing next are a couple of block northwest of the Refuge and Southwest of the Refuge. But i have been having conversations lately with other groups who are tackling the task of infiltrating the Northeast and Southeast. This is really good news as it seems that others are being raised up in this effort.
3. Moving into those areas. We are now being offered other apartments (smaller refuge’s). This seems like an open door that the LORD is opening up and we will begin moving those who are in the refuge into those areas. We plan this but we really are wanting to trust the LORD in this leading. We believe that He will set that group apart much like He set Philip and alike apart for the work of the ministry. This will be a neat stage to see the LORD take us in.
We will keep you posted on this battle…
for those of you who are tracking this journey of the Genesis to Revolution, we are now in the book of Acts. Earlier this morning it was reported that we were in the book of Matthew which means now that we have entered into the the New Testament we are flying. It took us 60 hours to get through the entire Old Testament and we are estimating that it will take 24 hours to get through the New Testament.
Since we began reading, it has really opened up much discussion with many of the homeless people and other people. it has been so great to hear their responses to what is happening in their lives. There are some who listen while sitting on the streets. Some will join us and listen for hours. Most of the people who come and listen are saying things like, “Wow, such a simple idea, but with such a powerful impact”. It is so neat to see people sitting there. It is wonderful to see just how powerful the Word is as it just is read aloud.
I believe with all of my heart, that the Word alone is powerful enough to change a city. What would be amazing is if we in this city of ours all were passionate about living it out full-heartily. My prayer for me is that I would really live this life out to the full glory of the Father.
Here is what is going on with “Genesis to Revolution” (G2R)…the reading of God’s Word 24 hours a day from Genesis to Revelation.
the stage is being built tomorrow for the beginning of Genesis 2 Revolution. In case you haven’t heard about this, we are starting Sunday at 6pm and will begin reading the entire Word of God 24 hours a day until it is read…
it is drawing youth and old and it is drawing different people from all denominations…the central theme…the Word of God…and all that He wants to do over this city.
If you have not signed up yet, please feel free to stop by the land and join us. We would love to give those who would like an opportunity to particapate a window of 15 minutes to read right wherever the last person leaves off. we look forward to seeing you there.
so, ok, getting back to the stage. tomorrow morning a few of us and a local group of boy scouts are going to be helping us construction this 8′ x 4′ stage. this is going to be so fun to see this thing go up. it just reminds me so much of the days when the walls of Jerusalem were completed and Ezra stood on the stage and read the Word of God (Nehemiah 8). pretty fun and amazing for us to get a chance to carry on this same work that the LORD did among His people many thousands of years ago.
